XenPV virtual server fails to boot with kernel panic error
If VPS started from command line with '-c' option it show the following error:
CONFIG_TEXT: dracut Warning: No root device "block:/dev/xvda1" found
dracut Warning: Boot has failed. To debug this issue add "rdshell" to the kernel command line
Boot device name is incorrect in the VPS configuration file. It should be
xvda instead of
Latest versions of Xen use
xvda boot device instead
sda. SolusVM allows to manage Xen boot devices.
- Log into SolusVM
- Browse to Dashboard > Nodes and click icon against node name to edit settings
- Change Xen Root Device option and switch from
- Click Update Node button to save changes.
It will set boot
xvda device for VPSes on the node as default. To change boot device for existing VPS, on the VPS settings page click on Rewrite Config icon.
