Question
I saw a warning regarding CentOS 6 EoL in SolusVM - what does it mean and what should be done?
Answer
On 30th of November, 2020 CentOS 6 reaches End of Life, see the following links for the details:
https://wiki.centos.org/About/Product
https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2020:2319
https://access.redhat.com/discussions/4768501
It should be noted that, unlike RHEL, there is no extended support option for CentOS. Once RHEL 6 exceeds Maintenance Support II at the end of November 2020, there will be no further updates for CentOS 6 at all.
Therefore, starting from 1st of December SolusVM installed on CentOS 6 and OpenVZ 6 servers will receive the final update 1.25.x - after that, it will not be possible to update such instances to a newer version. It also will not be possible to install SolusVM on servers with CentOS 6.
In case of mixed setup - some nodes are using CentOS 6 and some CentOS 7 - nodes only with CentOS 7 will be updated to the latest available version.
Note: In case of mixed setup, updates can be installed only from command line. It is strongly recommended move VPSes from CentOS 6 to CentOS 7. Otherwise, there are could be issues with communication between Master and CentOS 6 nodes at some point due to version mismatch.
While it is still possible to stay on the CentOS 6 version of SolusVM - it will not receive any updates (including security ones), so we encourage you to migrate all your CentOS 6 nodes to CentOS 7 using our instructions:
For Master node it is required to migrate its database:
https://docs.solusvm.com/display/BET/Migrating+SolusVM+Master+node+to+another+server
In case Master node is used for hosting of OpenVZ containers, then it is required to migrate them manually to a new slave node:

For OpenVZ 6 to OpenVZ 7 migration:
